“Success In Your National Examinations” Kakamega Catholic Bishop Tells Candidates

The Kakamega Catholic Diocese Bishop Joseph Obanyi Sagwe has urged students preparing for their Kenya National Certificate of Secondary Education, KCSE to remain steadfast and do their best.

Obanyi, who was speaking while at Bishop Sulumeti girls High school in Lurambi Sub County yesterday 17th October, requested the candidates to remain positive for them to succeed in their upcoming test.


“All the best. I love you dear students. You deserve nothing less than the best, for  I know how hard you’ve laboured for this examination. May your efforts be crowned with success”, he told the form four class.


According to the Bishop he made prophecies to the candidates that they will acquire excellent results and have victory out of it.
“I am not in doubt of your abilities because I know you’ve already put in your best effort. May landslide success and unusual insights be yours”, he commented.


He continued that;

“Remember, you are capable of achieving great things. Bishop Sulumeti Girls is among many schools in the County that parents have admired to bring their children into it. You can do all things through Christ who strengthens all of us and therefore may you make your parents proud”, reiterated Obanyi.


Similarly, As in normal circumstances where candidates would panic when encountering tough questions, he advised them that the moment they feel the pressure setting in they should take a long breath for this will make them excel.


“Success is not just bout the destination but also the journey. Trust in your abilities and stay focused. Good luck! Wishing you clarity of thoughts, calmness of mind and the ability to recall everything you’ve learned. Always approach the examination paper with a positive mindset and success will follow you”, reiterated Bishop Joseph Obanyi.


The Bishop’s sentiments were echoed by  father Maurice Kigame who advised  that the only possible secret to having a good life is passing examinations.

May you pass with flying Colours .Our duty as Servants of God is to give you our blessing of which through your faces am hopefully that you’ll make our school recognized much more”, added father Maurice Kigame.


Kigame who is also the chairman of the board of Lugari boys high school in the County explained that Kennedy Nyamolo who is the school Principal has put up good strategies and parents should expect excellency.


“As  you all know the government has come up with a new funding  model at the university. It’s either; vulnerable, extremely needy, needy and less needy and therefore let’s not have much hope on relying on the government because there are many who need support. “We Shall Support H.E President Wiliam Ruto Tree Planting Agenda ” Says Western Leader’s.

The Regiomal Commissioner of western part of the Country Irungu Masharia has said through a media press briefing that President Wiliam Ruto’ s target of the Country having planted fifteen billions trees ten year’s from now will be achieved due to the strategic measures that have been put.


According to him, he says that every region of the country was allocated with their respective planting target number and he’ll ensure that he educates residents especially those in remote areas in the region so as the activity gets to be articulated without any sought of disturbances.

“My message to the residents of; Kakamega, Bungoma, Vihiga, Busia and Trans Nzoia is that let’s cooperate maximum in reaching at least six billions planted trees by the end of the year 2032 as said by H.E the commander in chief and armed forces Wiliam Ruto.”
Similarly, he explained that since the start of the tree activity a few month’s ago the graph is growing slowly an act not quiet fine.


“For us to be able to achieve the targeted number of trees we need to plant at least three trees per month despite the Country’s rapid growing population. This is because for now it has been confirmed that only one million trees have been planted since the President officially launched the exercise”, he said.

Echoing the sentiments, Kakamega County police Commander Kiprono Langat warned a few residents in the County to stop deforestation practices .


“The adoption of two hundred hectares of Kakamega forest by her Excellency Rachael Ruto is a clear indication that the National government is working close in ensuring that we become a mong a few Counties that will reach it’s tree planting target. Lets not take it for granted”, advised the police Commander who requested Kakamega residents to stop frequent tree cutting.

Western Regional Commissioner Ignores The Kakamega Mukumu Girl’s Rumours Of Being Said To Have A New Disease Outbreak.

“There’s no any disease outbreak in Mukumu girl’s high school. The illness that a few of our students are being affected with is a normal disease that any one can be attacked with it un expected”, the Western regional commissioner Masharia Irungu has told Kakamega Journalists in an interview.


Addressing while in the school today afternoon, he blamed some media stations that have been spreading false information of Mukumu girl’s high school having been affected by un curable disease

“Issues you hear from the media frequently of there being a new virus isn’t true. We’ve walked in every part of the school and we have observed everything is quiet okay”, he added.
Similarly, he continued that the maize sacks that were said to have been contaminated were disposed off in Mombasa.


“The contaminated food was not used for commercial purposes as many hoped so.It was used to power the Kilings during the manufacturer of Bamburi cement”, he explained.


The regional commissioner’s utterances were seconded by jane Mmbone Amukoye , the school principal who stated that the turn up of the pupils is low and thereby requesting parents to withdraw off from their minds un necessary hearings from a few of those hesitating that the school isn’t in good condition for pupils to continue with their studies and thereby requesting them to bring their children back to school.


“We’ve gone all round and you’ve seen what has been able to be done by the management of this school. Whatever was advised by the ministry of education, public health officials and all those who were concerned has been addressed”, She spoke.


Furthermore she added that;


“You’ve seen students in class and you’ve seen all the corrections that we were asked. The only request we’ve is to the ministry of water to assist in establishment of more boreholes because currently the water we’ve isn’t enough due to the high enrolment of our students of a bout One thousand Eight hundred and sixty students out of the Two thousands and Eighty we had initially ”, she stated.


Speaking on the behalf of the guardian’s, Parents Teacher’s Association chairman Micah Abura applauded the support they’ve been receiving from both the National and County government since the interference of academics some few month’s ago.
“At this juncture, I want to thank everyone who have stood with us since when the school’s academics were cut short after being said to have a virus in the water when actually it isn’t true”, uttered Mukumu girl’s PTA Chairman Micah Abura.


He further added that;
“ With the presence of the regional Commissioner and regional director of education, I thank the government for having worked hard for our learner’s to continue with their education. Everything has been done by the Multi-agency team and I assure parents that our girl’s are safe in the school”, stated the Chairman of Mukumu girl’s high school.


At that juncture, the Lake Victoria North Water development Agency representative Ibrahim Oluoch reiterated that a lot of eradicated measures have been put in place and the school is receiving clean water from the County government of Kakamega.


“Immediately we noted that spring water was one of the factors contributing to illness in the school, we had to disconnect the Spring well and the one borehole water sources which were being used at that particular moment. For instance, the government has excavated a new borehole that holds twenty cubic meters per hour for the school as other borehole continue being made ”, explained the representative from water offices.

“No Disturbances Will Be Allowed In MDP’s Party Leader Final Send Off” Confirms Kakamega Police.

Few days after the Maendeleo Democratic party leader Hon. Hamisi Muganda involving in a tragic accident a long Mumias-Kakamega highway, an incident that resulted into his demice, the Kenya Police Service has assured the family that they’ll help in ensuring smooth burial ceremony.


Speaking to the press on behalf of the Kakamega County Commander Joseph Kigen while in the home of the late Hon. Hamisi Muganda after a discussion with the family members on how security Will be strengthened before and after the burial ceremony, the Commanding Police officer (OCS) in Navakholo Norman Bongoli explained that they’re on going with the arrangements of allocating a police officer in every home where the visitor’s will have to sit.

“The late Hon. Hamisi Muganda is a Kenyan politician who has produced open minded leader’s through his political party of MDP who needs well send off”, explained Norman Bongoli.

Kakamega Residents Engaged On Airstrip Expansion Following Land Issue

A Committee mandated to spearhead the expansion process of Kakamega Airstrip to a fully fledged Airport has began working.

Members of the Committee led by the CECM for Lands, Housing, Urban Areas and Physical Planning Mrs Peninah Mukabane on Friday organized a public participation forum with members of the public at Airstrip area, Murhanda Ward, Shinyalu Sub-County, marking the take off of the long awaited project that has got the blessings of Kakamega Governor H.E FCPA Fernandes Barasa and R.t Hon. President William Ruto.

In her speech, Mrs Mukabane appreciated the residents for agreeing to pave way to allow for the expansion and assured of a fair and just compensation & resettlement process to the affected locals. She said the County Government is working closely with the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA), the Ministry of Lands, the local Administration and other stakeholders to ensure a seamless exercise.

The subsequent task for the team will now be identification of the people likely to be affected, mobilisation and enhanced sensitization of all residents in the area, followed by recommendations which will inform the next course of action. The CECM was accompanied by his Cabinet colleagues; Mr Lawrence Omuhaka (Public Service and Administration) and CPA Livingstone Imbayi (Finance and Economic Planning).

Area Member of County Assembly Hon. Elphas Shilosio lauded the County Government for involving all stakeholders and appreciated residents for welcoming the project that is expected to empower them and spur development in the area.

The residents implored the Government to facilitate development of social amenities, schools, health facilities as well as infrastructure at their relocation places.

Chief Officer for Lands Administration, Survey and Physical Planning Ms Faith Gitira and her counterpart at the Housing and Urban Areas docket Mr Patrick Butichi were also present among other Government officers from both levels of Government.

Death toll rises to 13 as starvation continues to bite in Baringo county.
