Kennedy Odede Makes his Address.


The Chief Executive Officer of the Shining Hope for Communities, which is a grassroot movement and community-based organization operating in Kenya focussing on providing holistic, needs-driven services and advocating for community change, SHOFCO Mr. Kennedy Odede, is requesting the youths who aren’t entached with any funding organization especially the Sacco’s in Western Counties to join Shofco as one way of building their next financial life stability.


The CEO said that the organization is not only mentoring future leaders but also empowering the society through encompassing in many areas such as health, education, economic empowerment and gender-based violence prevention, with a strong emphasis on women and girls.


While speaking in Kakamega town yesterday 18th June after the successful appointment of the new Shofco Sacco Kakamega leaders through an election that was conducted by respective leaders from the organization, Odede said that they have a strong focus on empowering women and girls through education, leadership development, and access to resources in Kakamega, Busia, Bungoma, Vihiga and Transnzoia County.

“SHOFCO primarily works in informal settlements, addressing the unique challenges faced by residents in these areas. It provides access to healthcare services, including maternal and child health and addresses issues like HIV/AIDS. We also offer scholarships, life skills training, and support to keep needy children in school”, explained the Chief Executive Officer Kennedy Odede.


He Continued by explaining to the youths;


“We also provide access to financial services and opportunities for sustainable livelihoods.This is to ensure that you’re recognized in the society “,he explained.


Similarly, he advised the newly appointed Kakamega office through their Chair Raphael Abuti Mejah and his minority leader Idi Amunga to serve the people of Kakamega accordingly without any favours in the office.


“To be entrusted by your Colleagues with the responsibility of serving and directing them in matters relating to their financial growth isn’t easy. I advise each person assigned a role in the Kakamega office to perform his duty as allocated to him”, advised the CEO.


He wiped out sentiments that had been circulating a bout him having political ambitions in the Country where by he explained that his target is to fight poverty to come to an end.
“What do you think I lack that can push me to Secure for any political seat? Automatically nothing. My intentions a bout shofco is you Kenyans to have your financial life well satisfied just like the people from the United States of America through their Hero Dr. Martin Luther Kin who brought change to them”, he explained.
Consequently, he requested Kenyans to change their way of thinking by developing a helping hand to one another.


“I have noticed one behaviour amongst we Kenyans where by the poor continue being poorer on the expense of the rich. That’s an illicit behaviour that we need to stop it and develop kindness and love amongst ourselves”, spoke the president of Shofco as he advised the poor to unite and join the Sacco.


The CEO’s sentiments were justified and fully echoed by a few leaders led by Ibrahim Oyugi the Airport ward member of the County Assembly from  Mombasa County who advised members of the County Assembly in Kakamega to awaken up and join Shofco.

“The money allocated to every MCA for development in his or her ward is very little due to the continuous delay of disbursement of money from the National government to Counties. I call upon members of the County Assembly of Kakamega to join Shofco due to the many development projects that have been accomplished in my area through it ”, he advised.


Hon. Oyugi who’s also the Chair of education committee in the County Assembly of Mombasa Couny stated that the Country’s population is growing day to day and Kenyans should Style Up in applying the knowledge they attain from education rather than expecting for the white collar jobs sentiments that were supported by Hon. Tony Odheo and Gordon Onyango of Arujo Ward and Asembo East ward respectively.
