
Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology in partnership with Mbele Leadership Foundation from the United States Of America(USA ), an organisation Pioneering African-Centred Student Leadership Development, has launched a learning Centre into the institution to help learners in the region equip themselves with knowledge as a way of empowering the new generation in Africa with good Leadership.
Addressing the media after the commissioning of the Centre, Bishop Jawwaad Love and Dr. Tami Love from the organisation congratulated Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology for securing the launch due to many Universities that had sent their plea for the Commissioning of the hub.
“It’s a blessing for this University to be part of this inaugural launch. I feel like you are our extended family and I am sure you’ll be an institution to be looked upon”, spoke Bishop Jawwaad Love whose sentiments were echoed by Dr. Tami Love.
The leader consequently said that the level of education is changing worldwide and this should be articulated in most Countries that the education system is still slagging.
“We can colonize this education So that it has to be education. We can’t just be in one system for many years”, they explained.
The availability of the centre at Masinde Muliro University Will be an added advantage whereby eight classrooms will be housed.
Speaking on behalf of the University chair Dr. Pamela Sitienei who was a way on official state visit, the university Council representative George Lutomia thanked the Mbele Leadership foundation center through Bishop Jawwaad Love and Dr. Tami Love’s support, an act he said that will promote the interests of the University, as defined in the Strategic Plan.
“The establishment of the Centre will aid in the implementation of critical university policies with respect to academic matters, research, capacity building and governance. The space provided to set it up fits in the Master Plan and is consistent with the council’s objective. As a council, we are responsible to the university’s stakeholders for its effective leadership, spoke Dr. Lutomia.
The Vice Chancellor of the university Prof. Solomon Shibairo similarly, expressed his gratitude to the Mbele Leadership Foundation for selecting Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology to host this centre which is set to significantly impact them.
“Am truly honoured to have you join us on this special occasion as we launch the Mbele Centre for African Leadership. A facility that is dedicated to developing, empowering and connecting emerging leaders across the African continent and beyond”, he spoke.
Consequently, apart from applauding the good work performed by the University dignitaries including Prof. Willis Otuya whose efforts have contributed to the much recognition of the facility, the Vice Chancellor said that the centre is indeed an evidence of combined effort to promote good leadership and management, hence ensuring development of institutions in the entire country.
“As I mentioned, the programme will help to ensure that students produced possess global awareness and are able to form networks and secure international opportunities. As a university, we are proud to have the first co-host of students graduating at the same time that we are launching this centre”, explained the University Vice Chancellor Prof. Solomon Shibairo.

The ground-breaking of the Centre for African Leadership Project was attended by Dr. Titus Mokursi the East Africa director of the mbele leadership foundation who added that the academic centre will shape the future of the intercontinental community.
“Through innovation, collaboration and dedication we can build a better tomorrow. What begins here today will not only transform the landscape but also lay the foundation for progress opportunity and growth of African leaders for this generation and the generations to come”, finalized the East African Director.
